Sept 2011
for Immediate Release
The Southampton
Council of Faiths calls for unity, peace and
understanding This September we
remember the tragic loss of life which resulted from the
attacks of 11th September 2001 and also those lost as a
result of subsequent conflicts, both related and
unrelated to those events.
The last ten years
have seen unprecedented levels of turmoil in countries
around the world. It is in the face of these conflicts
that we have often seen the best in humanity shine
through - a move towards common action to benefit
society, calls for peace, unity and a reconciliation to
settle that which divides us.
The Southampton
Council of Faiths invites everyone to spare a few
moments to consider those less fortunate than ourselves.
We think of those who at this time are
struggling for survival in the face of hunger, war and
oppression and what we can do to help those in greatest
need, both in our city and further afield.
We
affirm the unique value of every human life and urge all
people to respect one another, to resolve differences
without turning to violence so that we may all live
together in peace.
